Welcome to the Ethics Review Committee
The Ethics Review Committee is the independent body of the University of Kelaniya, established to protect the dignity, rights, safety, and well-being of all human participants and animals involved in research. The ERC ensures that research conducted under the University’s name upholds the highest standards of professional integrity, ethical conduct, and scientific excellence.
We review proposals from undergraduate and postgraduate students, academic staff, and collaborative partners, providing impartial guidance and timely decisions. Through this process, we help researchers safeguard confidentiality, minimize risks, and respect diversity, equality, and justice.
Our work is guided by national and international standards, including the Forum for Research Ethics Committees of Sri Lanka (FRECSL) guidelines, and other globally recognized ethical principles.

Promote a culture of responsible, ethical, and high-quality research across all disciplines of the University.
Both internal researchers from the University of Kelaniya and external researchers are welcome to apply to the ERC for ethical review. External applications are accepted under specific payment terms and conditions.
